We are delighted to welcome another new member to the NWFED board.

Claire Sleightholm joined us in late 2021 with over fifteen years’ experience in museums and galleries, gained in collections and curatorial positions. After roles and projects at Wordsworth Grasmere, Museums Association, Tate, Henry Moore Institute, Manchester Art Gallery and Art UK, Claire is passionate about sharing collections in ways that are relevant, exciting and accessible.

Currently a member of the curatorial team at Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery in Carlisle, caring for the Designated and internationally important collections, Claire is also committed to socially engaged practice. She was part of the team which developed the first English museum’s Of By For All project, for Nina Simon’s global change network. Claire has been honoured to co-curate projects and exhibitions with diverse members of Carlisle’s communities.

On joining the NWFED board Claire said, ‘I am immensely proud to be able to give back to a museum community who have offered me so many opportunities to learn and share my passion for collections. I bring lived experience of disability to my role in representing people in museums and to championing those who are underrepresented. My priority is to be an active team member who will deliver a high-quality programme that identifies and acts on the changing needs of our sector.”
